Murals - One of the hottest fads for decorating a kid's room is having a mural painted. You can hire someone to do this or you can do it yourself with your child's help. There are many stencil packages that can be purchased at DIY stores that make it easy to paint your own mural. You simply trace the characters or scenes and then paint in the same manner as you would a paint by numbers kit. Hiring someone to paint the mural can be easier but more expensive. Painting with your child can be a fun task.
You can find ways to keep everybody happy, and still not spend a fortune on decorating. A good idea is to have a few ideas that you like, and that coordinate the child's room with the rest of the house, and then let the child pick out of those options. In this way, the child still feels he has a say in how his room is decorated, and you will have a room that you like and that goes with the rest of the house. One of the most important considerations in decorating a kid's room is that it must be a room that is as simple as possible and easy to keep clean. This means that accessories should be kept to a minimum so that there is less to dust and vacuum. You should also try to keep the furniture at a minimum, since there will be less space for clutter to gather.
If you do decide to tackle all of the kids rooms in one go, be thankful that at least it's not the whole house and just keep telling yourself that you are very brave and also that in this way you promote happier feelings amongst the children with no one feeling slighted or sulking because they are having their room done last. Depending on the age of your kids, you may well find that what tends to happen in most cases, when you're decorating the rooms with the kids help, is that the paint gets everywhere except on its intended mark. But then again that was part of the reason you decided to start by decorating the kids rooms and perhaps even their play areas.
