A bathroom for instance needs to be an area of complete privacy from the world outside. However, many bathrooms are retreats, spa like mini get-a-ways for individuals to relax. Some people prefer a warm light to be present while others like the serenity darkness brings. Whatever your preference a layered window treatment should blend and give the result you are looking to achieve. Sunscreen roller shades are a natural feel that maintain light while giving off a warm glow combining natural light and privacy. Shades are often paired nicely with a decorative valance.

Victorian design styles are often used by people who love the feel of the nineteenth century and are yet implemented with modern conveniences. Common woods often used in cabinets are oak, cherry or sometimes mahogany and traditional colors are preferred. For such designs, contemporary hardware can work but should have a vintage feel for example iron or antique pseudo pewter. On the other hand, Southern and ocean-side area styles favor stucco as it endures well. This design style will typically have accented windows like the bay type windows or will have narrow, long encased or boxed windows. Often the doors are accented with shutters of wood or slate and painted over with vibrant colors. Clay pots and ceramic statues would complement the ceramic tile flooring, which is often seen in Mediterranean design. This design style will often have big open living areas that make good use of the outside weather and the use of brighter colors in fabrics like drapes would accentuate the design.

Let's just say, for the purposes of an example, that I wanted to make a throw pillow that's seven inches square. Now you need to add a half inch to each side (in other words, a whole inch.) That's the size you'll end up cutting your fabric. Mine will end up being eight inches. That gives you enough room to sew around the edges. Cut two pieces of fabric in this size, then place the two right sides together. Pin one side, making sure that the two pieces are secure. Then, using a basic running stitch, sew to the other end one half inch from the edge. Backstitch a few times before ending with a knot. Continue this around two of the other sides, leaving one side open.
