Windows have always had that ability to become a focal point of many home interiors whether directly or indirectly, because of their function to radiate light and create warmth and transparency. It's important not to limit these portals of imagination to something that must be "covered"- curtains and window treatments should allow the window to interact with the room besides simply performing a function.

It's mostly a matter of personal taste. They are often tied to the sides but can operate on horizontal sliders or be pulled straight up. Traditional styles may also encompass prints, usually floral and understated. Sheers and heavy fabrics may be combined or used separately, but often traditional styles blend usability with decoration in a very versatile way.

Another fun and easy item to use as wall art that can be found at many yard sales, thrift stores, junkyards, and antique stores are old windows and doors. Finding a vintage window can be an interesting way to add an old world feel to any room. Using a door on a large wall can add something unexpected to the room. It's fun to hunt around for cool and interesting doors and windows. Whatever your style, you can find something to make the room your own with decorative wall decor.

When you use a number of framed mirrors or on the same wall you can use their shapes and sizes to build a pattern either across the entire wall or indeed concentrate them in one place either effect is stunning. In the bedroom or hallway a wonderful way to add to the décor is to use a floor mirror, these flexible mirrors just simply lean against the wall and can be used to add drama to a small hallway or make a dark bedroom come alive in daylight or if you shine some spotlights onto it sparkle at any time of the day.

A quality rug pad will act as a barrier between the carpet and the floor to prevent any scratching from the back of the rug to the floor. Therefore, the carpet pad should be solid as opposed to one with holes in it. The more solid and dense the pad, the better the protection to the hardwood floor.

I've been asked many times over the years, how do I go about choosing a wall mirror that will fit in well with a particular room of my home? Let's just say, for the purposes of an example, that I wanted to make a throw pillow that's seven inches square. Now you need to add a half inch to each side (in other words, a whole inch.) That's the size you'll end up cutting your fabric. Mine will end up being eight inches. That gives you enough room to sew around the edges. Cut two pieces of fabric in this size, then place the two right sides together. Pin one side, making sure that the two pieces are secure. Then, using a basic running stitch, sew to the other end one half inch from the edge. Backstitch a few times before ending with a knot. Continue this around two of the other sides, leaving one side open.
