Persian area rugs are admired far and wide for their intricate design and deeply hued colors. Originally crafted for the use of wandering tribes, they provided instant flooring over the sand floors of tents. These types of rugs are made in the Middle Eastern areas of Persia in modern day Iraq, Iran, and Turkey. They are well known for their typically ornate, deeply pigmented patterns. Persian rugs are produced both in hand-knotted and machine woven methods. The hand-knotted types have been known to last for over one hundred years.
Area rugs come in so many different and unique styles it's sometimes hard to decide which type would best suit your needs. You may have an idea in mind as to which type of rug you'd like to purchase. Or you may need more detailed information to make the right choice. Some styles are named after the region or area where they originated. Others are known for certain characteristics or specific uses. Let's look at three different styles that hopefully will help you make an informed decision when shopping for a special rug.
There are three reasons that using a quality rug pad is important. First off, this goes a long way in making sure that your rug is durable and lasts for years on end. If your rug is simply laid on top of wood or concrete, it is going to wear quickly. And while you may not notice this early on, as time goes by, you will surely be able to tell that your rug is beginning to wear out. To avoid this, make sure that the proper rug pad is used. And if you are not the one doing the installation, you should make sure that you still know what is going on. After all, once your rug is in place there is no possible way to determine with 100 percent accuracy as to if the right pad was used. In fact, the only way that you could do this would be by lifting the entire rug; a process that you probably do not want to get involved with.
